1) When I lived in San Antonio Texas I was giving a talk in church and saw Trent Bradford and his family. Turned out we were in the same ward. Then when I was on a cross country trip with my best friend we stopped at liberty jail in Missouri where we ran into Mr. Sinex and his wife and the ward I'm in now there's a guy who is related to half of Blanding.
2) ... but my favorite is when I started dating my husband I was telling him about Blanding and it turned out two of his roommates were from Blanding: CJ Redd and Jeff Langston. I seriously run into someone from Blanding or related to someone from Blanding at least every couple of weeks. Even my dentist hahaha!

3) For me, these connections started before I even moved to Blanding. My dad had just gotten a job in B-town, and plans were in place to relocate, so I knew it was GOING to happen but it hadn't yet. It was my junior year, and I was waiting tables at a restaurant in East Bay in Provo. 4 guys were seated in my section who were roughly my age. It was a slow night, so I had a chance to visit with them a little, and it turns out they were members of the SJ wrestling team, up for state wrestling. I remember for sure that it was Arnel Arenas and Travis Patterson. I honestly don't remember who the other two were.
4) When I moved to the little town I live in now (and by little I mean less than 1000 people) my bishop's wife caught wind somehow during introductions or something that I was from Blanding. She starts asking if I know anyone by the name of Meyer...and of course since Scott and Rick are some of my favorite people I enthusiastically answered, "Yes!" Turns out she's their sister,
Several months later, I find out that Mark Christiansen's sister is also in my ward, and my neighbor two houses down was born and raised in Monticello.
5) There was also the time we went to Missouri for my husband's son's wedding, and the wedding photographer knew Teddy Royer.
6) But my favorite happened just recently, and I love it because it shows just how caught up in this "ties to Blanding" my kids are, too. I got on the freeway at Santaquin, headed north to Payson, and a little ways ahead of us is a pick-up truck with a no monument sticker on its back window. My 6 year old spotted it and says: "Mom, look! A monument sticker! They must know us!!!"
I agreed that it was a sticker and it was very exciting, but that didn't necessarily mean it was someone who knew us. A few minutes later I passed the truck on the way to my exit, and by gum! My 6 year old was right! It was none other than Crystal Lacy Ewell. My daughter hasn't let me forget that.
