Moons Were Warned about Blanding

People told us when we moved to Blanding that we wouldn't go anywhere without running into someone from Blanding. We thought people were crazy...until we started running into people from Blanding. We were in Kirtland, Ohio in the Newell K. Whitney store. The sister missionaries asked where we were from and another lady in the group was so excited because she was a Redd from Blanding and had left when she was two years old.

My mother-in-law became convinced that we would never go anywhere without running into people from Blanding. We often laughed at that until one day in San Diego. She had just commented that we had been there almost a week and Justin and I had not seen anyone from Blanding. Not five minutes later, Jason Workman approached our table in Outback Steakhouse and asked if we were the Moons from Blanding. I thought my mother-in-law would choke on her food. Jason was doing his SEAL training in San Diego.

A favorite of mine is when we were on Temple Square on a very, very crowded night (walking room only) and ran into Gary Winegar and his wife (Gary used to teach science at SJH). On the way back to the Front Runner station, we got on a bus and sat down right next to our neighbors, Lynn Terry Giddings, Sean Giddings. We had a nice visit with our neighbors until the bus stopped and we headed home. Of the thousands of people in SLC that night, it was nice to have a visit with people we knew.
