Cross Country Connections Continued

Heather Raisor -- Texas and EnglandMy niece Sade’s first day in her Texas mission she stayed with a family in the ward there. It was Debbie Tingey, one of Clark Hawkin's daughters. Also on a trip to visit our daughter Becky in England we went to church on Sunday, and there were Wesley and Zola Hunt, visiting as well.

Debbie Tingey --Texas

Many moons ago, I was in Palmyra New York with Kesha L Black and my Dad and Ann. We were settling into our spot to watch the Hill Cumorah pageant when we heard, “Well, hello there Clark” and turned to see Leonard Hurst standing there. I believe he and his wife were serving a mission there.

In my current church ward here in Houston, there are 2 of us Blandingites that are part of the ward. When Sade Syme was a missionary here, there were 3 of us!
Brent Jones is the other one (currently in our Bishopric)

Shari Mexican -- Blanding:
Brent Jones lived in our ward in Farmington,  NM. His wife came by to welcome us right after we moved in.  Debbie addedSister Jones is one of my favorite people. Love her!

Kristine Beeson Black -- Salt Lake
My daughter in law took her son to the Dr. In Layton and it was Brett Burtenshaw.

Andrew Wilcox adds further information:  Brett works at the Tanner Clinic in Syracuse, but sometimes works in Layton.  He lives on the same street as we do in Syracuse and Melissa Knight Owens also lives on that same street.  When we lived in Kaysville, there were two people who were mission companions with Blanding men.  Rodney Page worked with Lloyd Bayles in France, and Dan Miller served with Mike Halliday in the Philippines.

Goose Tate -- Caldwell, Idaho:
I just ran into Leonard Scott O’Neaat church in California. He taught in Blanding from 1980-1987 crazy small world. He knows  the Winn family from Monticello and a lot of Blacks, Shumways, Lyman’s. He was a home teacher to brother and sister Palmer.
Patty Lyman: SeaWorld/Nauvoo Experiences
Bruce and I have talked about this a lot. Probably our most memorable experience was years and years ago. We were going in to see Shamu the Whale at Seaworld. We were being herded in like cattle with the thousands of other people - sat down right next to Tate and Kalli Holliday - watched the show, visited for a minute. Left and never saw them the rest of the day. We see so many Blanding folks and connections everywhere we go.--Years ago we were visiting Nauvoo - we ran into Steve and Marybeth Sutter Bohn posterity of Lynn and Hazel Lyman. We became fast friends. Have shared Christmas Cards for years. They’ve stopped by and visited us. This is a picture of Steve and Marybeth - They love coming to see Lynn and Hazel's house where Heck’s  live now.Added by Marybeth Bohn: Steve has met folks from Blanding here in Columbia, MO! Steve met a couple here-- the husband is from Blanding and was attending vet school. His wife was a nurse. Ring any bells? Patty: Scott and Wendy Meyers son - Dustin-- Just a few weeks ago I got a call from Dr. Lyman another one of Lynn and Hazel's posterity who is thinking about coming here to practice.

More Patty Lyman Stories:
Sometimes Blanding folks even convene in strange out of the way places: Every year for at least the last 10 years Blandingites’s have met in Glamis, Calif in the winter, usually, Jan. or Feb. They ride the dunes - Visit and eat--and have fun. We went last year for the first time. Halliday’s are down here, lots of the Shumways, Sheelys.Gail Marion brings her sewing machine and quilts, crochets does genealogy They’ve been down here for a month. We fell in love with it, and will have to make the yearly trek.

 Brenda Dennis Cosby Munson:

My ENT ( Dr. Seth Riddle) specialist from up north, was companions on his mission with a Chamberlain from Blanding.
Also when I was in Alamogordo, New Mexico having my hair done, the girl doing my hair had been neighbors with Steve and Donna Jensen, when they lived there.
